It's the year 3000, and Kalista Chu is about to have it all.

After seven arduous years at the prestigious Central Academy, she is finally on the verge of graduation. All that stands between her and a high-level government position are the infamous Final Exams, a series of impossibly difficult tests that will ultimately determine her class ranking and potentially score her a life-changing job in the Collective. 

But on the morning of Finals, disaster strikes. A bomb is set off in the Collective Chambers and kills the entire line of succession, leaving the government without a leader and the world in chaos. The students of Central Academy wake up to find that they are now players in the most dangerous and high-stakes Finals in history, with a chance to become the leader of the entire known world.

The rules are simple: the last one alive wins. Each day brings new challenges, and each night brings new kills. As friends become enemies and resources begin to run out, Kalista is forced to deal with her past and determine just how far she is willing to go for a position that others would kill for.

The remaining people have grouped together in packs and gangs, raiding the desolate cities and avoiding the ones called the Destroyers, who capture and torture the remaining survivors. No one is safe. One fifteen year old boy knows this better than anyone. He and his older sister lived together, sticking to the dark alleys of their abandoned city, and survived for years after the apocalypse, until the Destroyers came and took her away, reigning terror on the few who remained in the city. The boy, desperate to find someone to help him save his sister, leaves the city and finds one of the youngest cooperative packs in North America, called the Raiders, comprised of unwanted individuals with the strange powers left from the destruction of years past. Their leader, a destructive insomniac, promises to help him in return for the skills and usefulness this young boy seems to possess, but something disrupting sends waves of unease through the Raiders, something about a forgotten past and talk of a mutiny. At the end of a year, the teams must elect their best player to fight in a battle Royale against other team representatives. The battle Royale lasts for up to five days. The survivors may graduate or pass to the next year, if they do not survive; the rest of the team will be held back. But some players, may go lone wolf. Follow Jason Walker, a young talented writer whom has advanced skill with any knife, and his comrades in their journey through the eight grade. This group's name is the Joking Corpses. The JC contain three of the best fighters in the nation. Mia Fall, an Apex Predator, Jason Walker, a Clawed Predator, And Kai Gracefield, a Wolf in sheep's clothing. The JC go through the year, encountering fewer allies than foes. Each of these foes seem to put the fear of death, into Jason and his team. Rules of the DI: 1. Students may or may not kill each other both on and off school grounds 2. Students may kill teachers and vice versa 3. Students and Teachers are only allowed weapons that the country allows 4.
