Plot Line: 
When the Firestorm came, the world that was became no more. The dregs of humanity, what few remained, struggled to survive as the scarlet mist enveloped the broken landscape. A tattered remnant set forth to preserve knowledge for a future as yet uncertain. This is their story . . .

Origin:
This story is an expansion of a 2400 word short story "Firestorm" which I wrote in 1985 at age 18 (the original can be read here on WattPad as part of the Cold War Kid series).
