He nailed me with a red-moon stare, “Come to me Atarah.”
I clenched my fingers and shook my head.
“Then I will awash your world in blood.”

When Atarah Williams wakes up on the shore, she’s dazed and can’t remember how she got there or what she was doing the night before. The town is blazing with sirens and it’s becoming clear that something strange is rolling through Rockport, Texas and it isn’t just the fog that’s dancing on the streets in midday. Crops are failing in a nights span, animals are traveling to the church’s graveyard just to die, and the creeks are turning red like a slit artery.

The little bible-belt town is itching with a religious fever that is only looking to place accusations and Atarah wants nothing better than to take her diploma and run. But with each supernatural occurrence everyone is looking for face to blame and a body to burn. Soon Atarah finds herself dreaming more and more of doom and every instinct is pointing to her being at fault and it doesn’t take long for the town to agree.

But a crazed-bible pushers isn't who she needs to look out for. Higher deities have Rockport--and Atarah locked in their crosshairs, ready to pull the trigger.
