From birth Bastards are subjugated to all manners of restriction, discrimination and prejudice. If a bastard was spared the agony of living a mercy kill at birth would end them before they could even breath.

Hey dark eye were gentle a she watched his physical pain disappear, his wounds sealed shut as he snatched her closer one more time. Softly she apologized, saying words she wanted so badly to say before sealing their goodbye with a kiss. After one last smile, she disappeared into the fire below, her body dissipating into the molten flames as her words echoed into the soundless wind. "Mind telling me about that promise again?"
