Ever since her father was killed by the sky people, Ni'alu has contended with forgiveness. After Neteyam's death, and Lo'ak's arrival, she is left riled by the actions of the sky people. As a healer, she is requested upon by the Metkayina people to deal with the casualties of the conflict.
Aonung is the son of Tsahìk, pressured for greatness. He has always been reckless and scathing. Despite his persistent bullying, he takes liability for his bitter habits, and becomes close with the Sully family. He is requested to acquaint her with ways of the reef people.
She sees straight past him, growing ignorant towards him, owing to his past. He ponders what he has done wrong, eager to please her.
Yet, they both read each other harmoniously. They both seem to comprehend one another.
