It's 1917. You are a medic in the war, crawling through no man's land to save your fellow soldiers. You are captured during you rendezvous by a German field medic -- a dark haired man who's pointing a Mauser at you and bleeding out. You must save him, you have no choice.

You commit treachery -- you fall in love with him, even when you don't speak the same language.

There is a lot of German in the fic, and I do NOT expect you to understand any of it. That's the point, the reader canonically cannot understand German. You aren't expected to translate everything (but you can if you want to, I might have slipped in a few jokes.)

This is just a retelling, so I have rewritten the book to suit Daniels perspective. I've added things in (Like some conversations, or actions) that weren't written, but only when there's a time skip, and in away it hopefully alines with what is written.
