It is hard enough to be normal in high school, having a secret life as a vampire hunter makes it nearly impossibe. Ashlyn knows how she wants to go through life; during the day she studies for exams, so that she can get into a good college, and hangs out with her friends-- during the night she becomes a shadow and fights for those who can't fight for themselves. Making the predator prey, she deals out justice to those who deserve it... Vampires. 
Unknown to everyone around her, she goes out into uninhabited neighborhoods and clubs where she knows that creatures of the night are lurking and waiting to strike innocent victims. It is is easy for her to kill them, not feeling any remorse, but what happens when one manages to weasel his way into her life? The two, not knowing what either is, get to know each other and form a bound that might keep her from doing her duty. Will Ashlyn kill him? Or will she herself become one with the night?

He finds another girl to be his mate, and when Ashleigh is found, she is heartbroken. Not only was it her pack that made her suffer through all that because they sold her, but her mate had given up on her because her wolf had to go into dormancy. She falls into severe depression, and develops a form of PTSD, that was formed from the shock she had from her pack and mate's betrayal. She isn't happy anymore, and that brightness she had in her personality is gone, leaving a husk of her former self. Will her pack and mate right their terrible wrongs, and bring her back to her former glory, or will they carry on with how they are, and have her fall into a comatose like state?
