Randomly receiving a piece of parchment with a road-map and an "X" to mark the spot, Landry has travelled for so long that even his boots gave up. His journey brought him to Pollard's Grove, a generally unknown and quiet lumber village on the outskirts of the Wyrmwood, a densely packed forest with gargantuan trees at the centre of Lake Laga. There, he meets a friend he hasn't seen in years, a black-haired elf by the name of Maliah who is uncharacteristically concerned as to why she summoned him.

With magical threads of light, how far could the story lead beyond the Grove?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The story takes place within my world, called Aurum. The known world is split into two continents, the 'Twin Continents.' The West Continent is home to Cleonth, Zalafold, The Northern Kingdoms and the remnants of Larune. The East Continent is made up of Elduira, Zanokar, Adraskia, The Huinan Empire and more. (Names may change.)

The sea that separates the two is known as the Meridean Sea, and none can leave the Twins and return due to the surrounding boundless oceans, known as the Vast Blue.

Many thanks to my friends Imp, Zero and Morgz for their invaluable feedback :)

Welcome, traveler. Step into the Crownless Lands-a realm that should have been golden but never was. The maps still show grand borders; the songs still promise glory. But up close you'll find frayed banners, broken vows, and people trying to live between the teeth of history. Here, adventurers hunt fortunes that refuse to be found. Heroes rise late or fall early. Lives are traded, stolen, and sometimes-miraculously-saved. And the creatures? Some stalk the roads and terrorize the villages. Others arrive with a lesson sharp as a blade. And the kingdom's worst monsters wear crowns made of lies. --- What You're Getting Into: A weekly high/dark-fantasy pulp serial-fast, moody, full of intrigue, sorcery, and razor twists. Each episode lands a complete beat and ends on a cliffhanger. Where It All Unravels: A continent under a failing crown: forts crumble, roads go quiet, new rules harden. Towns and frontiers fend for themselves-more grit than resources. Bloodlines, Beasts & the In-Between: Shifts among humans, elves, dwarves, orcs, and classic creatures-some scourge, some uneasy allies. How the Story Moves: Chapters leap across the map, braiding many plots into one struggle. Local skirmishes mirror the bigger fight for a crown no one can hold. The People Worth Bleeding For: An ensemble of adventurers, exiles, heirs, and schemers. Not every arc finds light-some rise late, fall early, or trade all for one mercy. Your Weekly Drop: New chapters every Thursday, 6-10k words. Each deepens the world, sharpens the cast, and drives the saga-great for weeklies and first-timers. Important Note: The story follows multiple destinies; chapters are non-sequential and jump between plots across the Crownless Lands.

{COMPLETED} The stars disappeared seventeen years ago. A black night sky has mirrored a bleak existence for the people of Auros. The Gifted, humans with unique abilities to affect the world around them, have all but become extinct thanks to the dark reign of a usurper. And somehow Zephyr Elvy has managed to live her nineteen years in the blissful quiet of a small town next to the sea. Zephyr has always been content to keep to herself, and happy to live a simple, if uneventful, life. If only the universe had that in mind for her. Forced to flee the only place she has ever called home, Zephyr finds herself running through a world she has only ever read about, along with two soldiers who have deserted their posts to keep their consciences clean. With only a letter and a mysterious weapon as clues to why she's being hunted, Zephyr must face her own fears while discovering a whole new world of terrors at the hands of a queen she knows next to nothing about. Having never risked anything her entire life, Zephyr is forced to choose between apathy or action, hiding and keeping to herself, as she has always done, or taking a leap that could change the world she is just now getting to see. ***** Thank you SO MUCH for reading! I'm updating every Monday until this story is done, and I've been sitting on this one for almost three years so I'm really excited to finish it! I don't have any beta readers for this as I write, so please let me know if you notice anything, and I mean ANYTHING, that needs fixing! :)
