Bria Matthews' parents have tried for years to convince her that she and they are werewolves. They repeatedly claim to be disciples of the Mesopotamian Goddess Ishtar, who was renowned for the curses she bestowed upon young admirers, one of whom she changed into a wolf. To Bria, it all seems incredibly farfetched but she keeps her parents' theology secret from her mainstream friends. Her life takes an unexpected turn when The Wolven Council, headed by Raif Daniels, sanctions a ceremony in which Bria is named as a direct descendant of the Goddess and is to be anointed Heir to Ishtar's Legacy. Gradually, Bria accepts her birthright and finally accepts her role in the Werewolf community. But, not everyone welcomes the new Heir. The animosity between clans and subsequent packs increases with certain Alphas objecting to the Council's decision. Bria's newfound position is a bone of contention, and her father becomes the first victim in the fight for power. Bria must now prove her worth to continue wearing the crown. For whoever succeeds will become the ultimate Alpha.
