A short story set in the near future that explores a possible use of AI in replacing a passing spouse or significant other.
A man's experience after finding out his dead wife invested in a cutting-edge biotechnology company specializing in spousal replacement AI technology. She had contracted with Virtual Industries one year prior to her passing as a result of terminal cancer.
Unbeknownst to Nathaniel, his wife had allowed Virtual Industries to monitor every aspect of the last year of her life for the sole purpose of creating an exact AI replica of herself.
When the time came for Nathaniel to witness his wife's replacement, he was blown away by what was placed before him. But an employee bearing the title of Intimacy Counselor also captured his attention.
He is left debating whether he will play ball with his wife's replica or follow his feelings toward the living, breathing, beauty who, ironically enough, holds the job of making him fall for the replacement.
