Of Life and Death

On a distant plain, two beings are guarded with looking over humans who are stuck at a crossroads: the moment between Life and Death. They can't affect the choice, or change the future, but they may be able to teach you something.

Short story I wrote for a competition recently. I didn't win anything (although one of my best friends did!), but thought that I should at least place it on here! I've gotten some mixed reviews so far, so I'm interested to see what everyone thinks! A forewarning: if you have any questions about the plot, please please please scan through the story again before asking.
