Then one day, while at work on a failing fishing charter, a dense fog consumes everything in sight and a ship crashes into the dock.
When Ody wakes on the beach miles away from the dock, he's shocked to find a mesmerized sea creature beside him. She doesn't know if she can trust him- she knows what they're capable of, but she's run out of options. Once her kind crosses to land, they are forbidden to return. The mermaid says she is called Melusine and she has been watching him and his twin sister their entire lives. She thinks the one thing her clan has been searching for is with his sister, Isla.
His only daughter, the future Ardent of the clan, has left the sea to be with the humans. But what can the king do? He sends his daughter's betrothed, Arno, in hopes to convince Melusine to come back to the sea. But he knows it's going to be much harder than it should be. She doesn't love Arno and the arranged bonding set for them. She has been obsessed with that boy and his sister for decades. With Arno on a time crunch and other clans sensing the their future leader is absent- should be protect his clan or the one who ran away from them?
After one hazy day at sea, Ody and Isla's lives change forever and they can never go back. Will they want to? Can humans and merfolk live together in peace? And what happens when the other clans realize the one thing that can help them conquer the world is hanging around a human girl's neck?
