Zhao Yunlan could only count on two things: Alcohol and his pistol. That didn't make for a very steady life, but a hell of an exciting one. For many years, Zhao Yunlan was willing to live off of that excitement alone, but anyone's thirties will creep up on them faster than they expect. Soon he's left looking through a news lense at life, one provided by a very attractive, yet secretive man Zhao Yunlan just can't seem to get enough of. Was his luck so good to keep him running into the man, or was there something more behind everything?

Shen Wei was tired of getting rid of the bodies of attacker after attacker that made attempts on his life. Obviously, being a part of the largest underground gang would bring its dangers, but this was just simply excessive. This wasn't the way he had wanted to lead his life. On top of everything else, Shen Wei had a chance encounter with a mesmerizingly charming police captain that signaled nothing but bad news for him. Yet Shen Wei could never turn away from the familiarity in the man's face, even if it might cost his life.

I was re-watching the drama when I saw that the original Guardian story had begun to be translated into English. I bought it and read it in a day. It was amazing, so here's to an obsession revived! Also this story was originally a bit different so to the like five readers who saw that version sorry for the sudden change-up! Bits of the show and book are mixed together to create the basis for this fic.
