To the End of the Universe and Back - Book One: Deception

When your entire life comes down to a single prophecy, all you can do is hope you get a good one. Your prophecy can be the deciding factor for you to go to college, get a good job, and have a good salary, but a bad prophecy can mean you lose out on going to school entirely.

Atalie Walker just turned 15, in the year 2124, nearly three years after her mom threw her to the streets for having a bad prophecy. She discovered she has a special gene that gives one superpowers, called Variant RXS. With this gene, she and a new friend of hers are chosen to enter a competition, to make it to the end of the universe and back, but the criteria is rather vague, as the universe is always expanding. To succeed you must retrieve data from a space probe that was lost during a mission to explore outside galaxies nearly half a century ago. The one thing that can be guranteed is that the probe is many galaxies away. The exact galaxy it is in is unknown. To increase success, the candidates are divided into squads of four.

Atalie will face the many mysteries of the universe, and in the process search for her meaning. Survival is a struggle, but she makes good friends within her squad, and builds unbreakable bonds. Success may seem impossible, but among the different skillsets her teammates have, they might have a chance.
