Lysandra Jane's ordinary hike in the outskirts of Denver takes a nightmarish turn when, after a mysterious fall, she finds herself shackled in a dimly lit dungeon. The world she knew is replaced by unfamiliar faces, a massive hole in the ground called the Abyss, and demonic forces threatening to consume everything.

Branded with the Mark of the Divine, a cursed emblem tied to the catastrophe that blew up half of the continent's leaders, Lysandra is accused of involvement in the destruction that unleashed the demons and tasked with the mission of closing the giant abyss and preventing the end of the world. With the help of a few allies (or foes?) and her newfound magical abilities (seriously?) Lysandra works to save this world and get back to her own.

"Well, I don't know why either. This must be my punishment from God. I always hated medieval RPG games. With all those big bad monsters and stuff, like those snakes- those were unreal. I must be dead f'real" She glanced up at the two women, who stared down at her incredulously as if she was the one who was crazy.

"We have worse things to worry about," Vittoria said, dismissing her revelation. "Besides, they were likely just demons. We will talk about what an..uh.. RPG is later."

"Demons? Like the devil?"

"Who?" Josie said, tilting her head.

"Never mind that," Vittoria said hastily, "We need to get her to the abyss."

A slow-burn fantasy fic that might just make you feel some type of way.

"There are a bunch of wolves outside my house. I think they have rabies or something I'm not sure." The banging gets louder and I can feel my face getting wet from the tears. "Mamm did you say wolves are there?" "Yes Yes there are wolves about 10 of them out here in my front yard. I need help!" I hang up the phone and sit on the end of the stair case. I close my eyes and start praying. Something I haven't done in a while. "I have faith, there is a god. I have faith, there is a god, I have faith, there is a god." I repeat over and over. The glass breaks and I start screaming. I stand up and try to scramble up the stairs. The door comes falling down and there are about 10 wolves standing in front of my door. The Alistairs admitted the truth. Their fifth is Rose, both silver and gold-called, though her existence must remain a secret from those who'd imprison her or condemn the Alistairs for their change of heart. With Rose operating from the shadows, they fight for both sides: to free the priests and protect the living and the dead from the hunger of the worms. *** (Excerpt, Alexander's POV) *** Rose laughed. "She wasn't cruel, just bossy. She kept telling me to find privacy and not to tell anyone that she was contacting me." "Why?" Gabriel asked. "She didn't say. Please don't ever tell her I told you." "The priests make secrecy their policy in everything," I said. "What would you have done if I wasn't here?" Would you have kept her a secret from us, Rose? Her warm fingers ran over the nape of my neck. "I'd have been even more upset that you weren't here." Too cute. She was going to be the death of me. Eyes that begged me to come closer while she put her hand on my chest, warning me off. Climbing on top of me, but keeping the blanket between us. And for the first time in my life I wanted something bad enough that I was afraid to push for it. "Don't worry that we'll step between you and Beatrice," I said. "Build trust with her however you see fit." She gave me a sweet smile. When was Gabriel going to get off the damn call? I'd had Rose to myself for all of two seconds before the world interrupted. "Tell her sometime that you hate us," Gabriel suggested. "If you want to build trust with her." Rose promptly frowned. "I'd rather not." "One day, spit on Gabriel in her presence," I piled on. "She'll kiss your cheek." "Did she always hate you like this? Why?" "Some feelings don't have a good cause. Nothing but one tribe against another," Gabriel said.

Selena Ashford's life was nothing but a monotonous shell-until one fateful morning, she wakes up as Seraphina Ashenveil, the villainess of the very fantasy romance she despises: Whispers of Hearts. Known for its twisted plots and the inevitable death of its villainess, Selena's new life is a nightmare. Ugh.. Why this stupid book!? As Seraphina, she is surrounded by two figures who mark her doom: her ruthless father, Aldric Ashenveil, and the male lead, Caius Valerian, whose cold indifference promises only betrayal. But fate throws her an unexpected twist-she crosses paths with Killian Valmond, the second male lead, a fiercely loyal and annoyingly arrogant knight who dies in a most pathetic yet stupid way for the female lead. Tsk, Cliché. But he is not leaving her side. He sticks with her like she's something which either needs to be guarded or protected. She can't tell which. Stupid Man. Seeking refuge, Seraphina hides in a small village, where the kind-hearted locals accept her without asking questions. Despite her growing frustrations with Killian's persistent presence, she begins to question everything she thought she knew about her new reality. Something is off-no one seems to be playing by the rules of the story, and the characters seem eerily alive, drifting away from their roles as if the book itself was a mere myth. Or Maybe.. Is it? Slowly, Selena uncovers unsettling truths that suggest her life, the worlds, everything might be a lie. As the lines between fiction and reality blur, Seraphina must decide if she can carve her own path to survival or if she's destined for a fate far worse than the book ever predicted.
