Away with the wind

It all started when I decided to leave my family, I just ran until I met him.
I ran faster and faster until I couldn't run anymore.
It was then I saw him, and I followed him home.
What followed that was a mystery, a mystery I am still trying to uncover.
Now, I'm back, but what really happened?
