Skye woke up in a strange town, her clothes drenched in blood and her mind void of memories. The eerie silence of the streets only amplified her panic. An older couple found her and took her in, offering shelter. At first, they seemed kind, but soon their kindness turned bitter, and their compassion twisted into cruelty. Her search for the truth had only just begun, but it was clear that uncovering her past might cost her more than her freedom-it could cost her life.. or maybe, it could cost them theirs.

Maria can't explain what she is or what she's done. After all, it shouldn't be possible for a human to conjur fire from nothing but pure will, but that hasn't stopped her before. She can't remember how she ends up bloodied, beaten half to death on a deserted doorstep in the middle of the night, but she can remember him, bringing her in. He's a little reserved but she doesn't mind, especially as they have something in common: neither one is supposed to exist outside of nightmares and folklore. Few people know Maria exists. All of them want her dead. None have felt the wrath of her new friend yet. This is an impossible story and you'd do best pretending you've never heard it.

The air smelled of gasoline and death. That's what woke me first. Not the searing pain in my side or the impossible heat coming from somewhere behind me. No, it was the smell. And then the memories hit me like the bus hit the tree. And I was rolling down the side of a mountain, surrounded by ten other screaming kids and three panicked adults. All of which had a ninety six percent chance of death. My eyes were open. My emerald eyes, so rare that only two percent of the population had them. And my throat was burning, and my skin was tingling. And all I could think about was the probability that I was dying. Scattered around me I knew were twelve other people with a ninety nine percent chance of already being dead. And I didn't look around to find out. Because I knew I was one hundred percent right.

It started off as a normal school day until you see this kid on the side of the road saying he lost his dog in the woods and your kind hearted self went with the boy so find the dog. She finds herself in a small broken down town with some strange rumors circling around about dangers in the forest at night, what will she do when she meets this danger? And how will she get her memories back? Short story. I'm not the best at writing either (i prefer to draw/paint) so read at your own risk!
