Hogwarts was Cedric's british side, he was sure that none of his friends (even oliver and jacob) would have ever thought he had connections to other countries past the UK.

Deidre was that connection. His childhood best friend and neighbour who he could giggle in french with knowing his dad was none-the-wiser to their schemes (he had to be careful about his mum though).

So when they find themselves finally spending time together at school rather than just the holidays, he delights in being able to speak with her and even some other beauxbaton students.

When his name is drawn from the cup he hopes that won't change.
