Jake Wheeler, Hackensack's very own gay unchasté. A 16 year-old high schooler with an affinity of getting into all of the wrong drama. He's sarcastic, loud, promiscuous, jealous, ambitious, artistic, and when he likes you; you'll always be able to count on him, even when you don't know you need him. Devon Evans, Hackensack's alcoholic quarterback. A 16-year-old high schooler who thinks with his lower half, often called heartless. He's quiet, alluring, competitive, dedicated, fun, poetic, and when this boy likes you; he will make sure everyone knows not to fuck with you, ever. Lexy Cross, Hackensack's "Queen Bee" mean girl. A 16-year-old high schooler with a level of esteem intelligence and most importantly (to her anyway) the most beautiful girl at school. She's smart, quick-witted, funny, sarcastic, empathetic, compassionate, and when you have her in your corner; everybody will constantly be complimenting you and be extremely fake. Junior Wheeler, Hackensack's all-American captain. A 15-year-old high schooler who has an immense skill when it comes to his love football. He's talented, alert, confident, focussed, dedicated, loyal, and when he like you; he will always go the extra mile for any of his friends, even if that means going against the system. Nadine Campbell, Hackensack's "Quiet kid" nerd. A 15-year-old high schooler with an undoubtably exceptional brain and computer-wiz skills, along with being bullied by everyone. She's intelligent, talented, shy, soft-spoken, kind, judgemental, and when you get close with her; you'll always have someone that you can count on and who will constantly come through for you. Jake and Devon meet at a party, and then realise that they've been in all the same classes their whole life. Lexy and Junior had been dating since the 10th grade and were the future prom king and queen... until Lexy is partnered with Nadine.

Andrew, a twenty-six-year-old literature graduate, has been through more drama than many his age. From suffering obesity to arthritis, and then anorexia after drastic attempts to lose body fat, Andrew grows more conscious of his body. He shields himself from the rest of the world in a reserved cabin tucked away in a small town where he dwells in solitude and self-pity. But things can't stay the same forever and Andrew's carefully planned out walls fall around him with the arrival of his uncle's fiancee's son, Ethan. Ethan will more than disrupt Andrew's 'perfect' life. He'll also teach him the sole act of acceptance.
