The love between Death and Mother Earth is an intriguing and complex concept often explored in mythology and literature. It symbolizes the eternal cycle of life and death, highlighting the interconnections of all living beings. Death, often portrayed as a mysterious and somber figure, finds solace and purpose in the nurturing embrace of Mother Earth. In this unconventional love story, Death and Mother Earth share a profound bond, with Death representing the inevitable end and transformation, while Mother Earth represents the nurturing and regenerative aspect of existence. Their union signifies the harmony and balance that exists within the natural world, reminding us of the intricate relationship between life and mortality.

A land of shadows, of mystery, of obfuscated Truth. Welcome to the Greylands, that strange world, within the bounds of Time, peopled by mortal men. We cannot see truly, only as through a glass, darkly. There are things that move and have their being completely beyond our ability to perceive them. There are things beyond our mortal ability to comprehend. There are hints and glimmers hidden within the body of revealed Truth, but there is much we do not know, cannot yet understand, and could never dare dream. These stories are mere fancy, with a seed of Truth at their core. They play with the ideas of mortality and Eternity, Time and things beyond it, and of course the epic battle of Good against Evil. Each stands alone, and though there are common themes, threads, names, and concepts, each story is an entity unto itself and should not be seen as occurring in the same world or mistaken for installments of a series. These are random musings, not Gospel Truth, and should not be taken as such. Joy, hope, and encouragement are hopefully a byproduct, but certainly not sound Theology. If you would know more of the true world beyond these Greylands, one must be a careful student of the Scriptures, not of silly stories such as these. While still fairytales, these stories are set in modern surroundings rather than the land of Faerie! Each story is unique unto itself, and doesn't reference any other story, world or character elsewhere.

The Gifts of Mortality

Just as love has many forms, a love story can be about several types of love. Beyond romantic love, there's the platonic love one has for friends. Or for a group of people different from themselves. There's the love for things and for pursuits. And there's self-love. All are different shades of love. All are worthy of being featured in a love story. Samil is at the center of this one. He's a god, the God of Festivals and the Arts. He often sits alone in the city of the gods with his music and paintings, far removed from humans. He sits in a city of gods that feels the humans have abandoned them, so the gods have abandoned humanity. At the height of this separation, a group of humans gain control over the Goddess of Death, forcing her to kill their enemies and increase their power. All of the gods, even Death's sister, keep their backs turned on humanity. Except one. Samil knows he isn't very powerful among his kind. He holds no influence or sway among them. But when he learns that the humans desperately need the immortals' help, he chooses to give it his all and do a deceptively simple thing: Help them. He befriends a human, learning about humanity through her eyes and re-examining his immortality. And as he works to help the mortals, he also helps himself. He helps himself experience love in all its shades, from friendship to self-love to, perhaps, romance. If he can stay alive long enough in his dance with Death.
