Sabrina Willers, the protagonist, lived the kind of life that any young woman would envy. She was surrounded by wealth, love, an abundance of friends, and the most comfort she could possibly wish for. The turning point came when she turned 21, at which point she began having dreams that were more like nightmares because they gave glimpses of another life, her other life, which is the polar opposite of the one she is currently living. These dreams became more and more real as they began to seep into her life, until one day she saw herself in the mirror, with unkempt hair, torn but clean clothes, and a broken couch in a tiny room. At that moment, she understood that she was neither wealthy nor popular nor living in comfort. It was all in her head; it was only a coping mechanism for the stress she experiences on a daily basis, revealing how depressed and anxious she was. She simply desired to be happy, and her imagination served as her sole escape and hope for a better life.
