Dylan, a 13 year old native Californian, loves surfing.  He has been surfing ever since he was a little kid.  He hasn't surfed for 2 years now.  His mom won't let him surf, ever since his dad was killed by a shark when he was surfing.  When school is finally let out, he signs up for a surfing contest, where he could win money, which could really help out his surfing career, without his mother knowing.  His friends help him train, and are practicing with him every day.  But he needs to get over his fear of sharks, and face the risk that all surfers face.  He also needs to watch out for the person that seems to be trying to wreck this contest.  What will his mom think?  Will he face the risk? Does he have the potential to win?
