The year is 2023 and Kaia Haywood knows nothing about the existence of zombies on earth. Her brother finds a series of diary entries regarding the matter and discovers that zombies did in fact exist and dominate their town a very long time ago but they were known as "outlanders". Kaia doesn't believe in the existence of zombies until one night, she encounters a disfigured man who has lost his humanly features.
She fails to realise that someone close to her may be associated with the outlanders. Except this time, they can blend in with humans.
This means that zombies are roaming the streets as she breathes.

We all were hiding in random places, apparently any place we could find. There were a ton of zombies, the whole place was full of them. Many people from our group were lost to the virus. This story is about a high school girl that has a crush on the new kid that just came to town from New York with a dark backstory. Not only does she have a new crush in town but there are a bunch of other secrets that have been coming to light with every sunrise the town sees. This town might be small but boy is there a lot of drama. The town police don't know what's worse, the splayed out animals or the missing high school girls. Leah doesn't know what to think as the town she knew as her home falls to shambles. Will she fall with the town or will she run away with the mystery man she has a secret obsession with.
