Nicole Ilina. 27. Single mother of one beautiful daughter, and running from her past. She moved to a new state with her best friend, new number, new address and trying to find a new life for not only herself but her child.
She had been here for about two years now, hiding. She just starts to feel like she is settled in when she notices a new neighbor moving in. He doesn't talk much. Seems to keep to himself but there was something about him that seemed...off. So she keeps her distance. That is until she has a chance encounter with him one evening.
Now she can't seem to stay away from him. Or get away. Fighting her brain; which is shooting clear warning signs, and her heart; which begs her to get closer. There seems to be more to him than what she sees on the surface and to top it all off, her past begins to nip at her heels and threaten the very life she made for herself and her daughter.
(𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮-𝟭𝟴-𝟮𝟱: writing has been an extremely slow process and I ended up shelving this project temporarily last year, so apologies. I'll be working more on this story this year in the big '25.)

Althea was dangerous. She wasn't particularly large or imposing, but once you heard the Whisper of her breath, it was too late. She has always looked up at the sky, loving daytime, hating the darkness, the stars that watched her suffer. Today was supposed to be one of the happiest days of my life. The day when I say 'I do' and join myself to my mate for the rest of our lives. However that's drowned out by what's still missing. Myself. I stare at my reflection in the mirror and it's almost like I can see the part of me that's missing. Rafe has claimed that he doesn't care that I can't reach my wolf, that it's a problem that we will solve, that everything will be alright. He can't help me with this though. The Moon Goddess told me it was up to me and me alone, she's given me clues, only I still have no idea what to do. I feel like my soul has been lost along with my wolf, and even though Rafe smiles and kisses me and tells me it's alright, I can't help but think that he's somehow disappointed in me. Disappointed that I can't be what he needs. He needs a Luna, and right now, that's not who I am. And I'm worried that the pack sees that too. I won't give up hope though. I won't stop trying until I've found Kali, until I've found my Luna. ******************** The dust has settled following Rafe and Katarina's recovery. However, neither one of them have been able to relax. Rafe is still on edge about Nolan and the other rogues still running free, and Katarina is consumed with the dread of her missing wolf. She's scared of the unknown and at the moment, the unknown surrounds her. Her child, her wolf, what she and her mate are. All of it is new to her and none of it is normal. He watched as her eyes skimmed over his dark eyes and black hair with barely a reaction. He felt his pride twinge a bit so he went further. Lifting his hands, he let the blood drip from them. Her eyes widened slightly and her chin rose. She looked at his hands then back at him. His dark eyes gleamed in a challenge. "You've not harmed me or mine, faery." She spoke out loud. "Blood does not scare me and neither do you. Keep your dog on its leash." Then she turned and calmly walked back inside. Intrigued now, he went to the window of the house and watched as she reassured her mother that the dog was gone "I'll see you tonight, reckless child." He promised softly. **** Marcus felt himself beginning to wake and struggled to stay in the dream. But it was no use. His eyes opened and he released the pillow his hand was gripping. It was the same one that she had laid her head on every night. His head went into the pillow heavily for a moment, breathing in her faint scent. He hated and treasured dreams like that with equal fervor. He rolled over on his back and stared at the ceiling. It had been decades since she'd been forced to break that promise. He lifted his hand and touched the ring that had been her last gift. It had been decades, but it was yesterday. ***I did not skimp on the steamy scenes so consider yourselves warned ok?
