"Your wife is nothing but a failed test subject." The individual who I had been torturing and chaining for the past three days still dared to say this. I wanted to break him, but before I could, I needed to know a lot of things. I have to save someone, and in order to do so, I needed to be aware of what-more specifically, who-was approaching her. "Nakul has the doctors still arrived or not?" Observing the picture of her that I had stashed inside my wallet, I asked my acquaintance. He gave me a nod, and I closed my eyes as I tapped the table a few times, only to have him splutter and yell hurtful things at me once again. "Do you consider yourself a big shot? Super-cop Agnihotri, the person who was duped by her own wife for so long demonstrates your lack of competence." He spewed blood from his mouth and laughed. I told myself, You can't lose your composure just yet. Anger will just cause me to fall behind once more. Remain composed and make informed decisions. "So, have you been told by your wife how the trials were carried out? How were we torturing her? Or did she mention him? The individual whose preferred test subject she was?" He grinned, and I could see he wasn't going to stop. He was pushing me to the edge, and it didn't help that he was talking about her in this way. Nakul gave me a little shove to the shoulder and a nod. I tapped the table with my eyes closed. After getting up, I went into the cage and just stared at him, keeping my thoughts to myself, as he laughed uncontrollably. He resumed his speech. "He's on his way. arriving to claim what he had made. Really, do you think he'll let her go? Agnihotri, you will not be able to keep her safe. I have some very great advice for you, you know." He said something in my ear that made my blood boil, so I moved in close. I pressed him against the wall while holding his throat. repeatedly punching him in the stomach and slamming his face against the spartan walls of his cell. "War it is!!!"

It should've ended with distance. A silence. A closed door. But instead, it began here-pressed against a balcony wall, with her breath caught between fear and temptation, and his grey eyes burning with something far more dangerous than lust. He didn't touch her. Not yet. But the threat of it lingered in the space between their bodies, in the way his chest nearly brushed hers every time he exhaled. She could feel the tension rippling off him, barely contained-like a storm pacing behind his ribcage, just waiting to destroy. "You shouldn't be here," he said, voice rough, low, and shaking with restraint. But he was the one who had cornered her. He was the one who couldn't stay away. And she? She hated how much she didn't want to run. Because this-whatever this was-felt like standing on the edge of something irreversible. "You're my employee," he snapped. As if the label could cage what was already unravelling inside him. "You're a mistake I keep choosing." Her eyes met his-furious, pained, exposed. "I never asked you to," she said, but her voice cracked around the lie. His hand lifted slowly, brushing the side of her jaw with a touch that contradicted everything his words said. Possessive. Tender. He stared at her like she was the very thing he was never meant to want-and the only thing he couldn't stop needing. "I've spent years building walls to stay in control," he muttered, his thumb grazing her lower lip. "You walk in and wreck all of it... without even trying." She swallowed hard. This wasn't love. This wasn't even hate. This was obsession-raw, electric, and utterly doomed. And as his lips hovered over hers, trembling with the weight of a thousand wrong intentions, they both knew- 🥀It started with a look. It spiralled with a touch. And before they could stop it, they were already each other's greatest undoing.
