Four women journey through life between 1905 and 1945-a mentally, physically, and financially draining period, leaving behind the Boer and Crimean wars of the late 1800s, thrust too soon into WW1, the crash of 1929 and then just ten years late WW2. Women had to be strong, raising their voices to be heard, coping with loss, deprivations and fear. Follow Colette, railing against the constriaints of an Edwardian lady's life; Mary, facing the future as a single mother; Emily, a wheeler-dealer gambler, used to getting her own way; and Joannie, an innocent denied her biological family. Will she ever know the truth?

Katherine Nichols, the one that everyone knew didn't want children, agreed to become the godmother of her friend's kid. She figured that she wouldn't have to deal with anything but the fun stuff like taking them to the park. When she reports live the story of her friends' deaths, she is proven wrong. Is Katherine ready to raise a child? Moreover, is she ready to raise a child with her beloved ex-boyfriend, Jason Graham, who'd she'd imagined spending the rest of her life with? Clara Carmichael's mother was sick, and she seemed to be the only one that could possibly help. Her father was running out of retirement money, and her brother was struggling to support himself. In a last ditch attempt to earn enough money for her mother's surgery, she signed up for being a surrogate. The problem? She began to fall in love with the man that hired her. Will she be able to leave the poor couple alone and just give them what they asked for? Or are her feelings for Lucas Dawson too strong? Collette Fredrickson, despite her trauma from the last time she'd went out drinking, decided it was time for her to get over it and agreed to go out for drinks with her friends, Clara and Katherine. While she struggled to stay out of panic attack territory, she met David Martin, who appeared to be one of the few good guys in the world. That was until after she'd spent the night with him. Suddenly, he was acting like all of the other jerks she'd met and heard of. Adding to that, Collette found out she was pregnant with his baby. Had David been telling the truth at the club that night or had he just lied to get into her pants?
Wildflowers In The Ruins: A 1917 Story by Snowdropsdream

Completed fan fiction for the film 1917: This is the very first fan fiction I've ever attempted. Please be kind. I hope you like it. It features all of the main characters, several of the others, plus many I've created. Northern France, April 1917: A Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse is sent on an urgent mission across no-man's land accompanying two Lance Corporals, but she will have her own mission to fullfil also and be tested in ways she never deemed possible. Each chapter is named after a flower, relevant to the story, and that you can encounter growing in the wild, either in Britain or Northern France, with the exception of roses and Sweet William's. This story does contain spoilers from the film so it's really worth watching it first. Chapers two (from around halfway through) to eight I've taken directly from the film. The script is copyrighted to Sam Mendes and Krysty Wilson-Cairns, although I've worked from what's spoken in the film rather than off the script. I've taken inspiration from other films, television and books (fiction and non-fiction) set in the First World War too such as Forgotten Voices, The Roses Of No-Man's Land, War Horse, The Crimson Field, Private Peaceful, They Shall Not Grow Old, Testament Of Youth, Journey's End and Birdsong. I've also taken inspiration from the beautiful book A Song For Will which is based on the true story of the gardeners and labourers from the Heligan Estate in Cornwall. Every character who isn't featured in the film 1917 is fictitious and the names are entirely made-up, although every female character's Christian name in my story belongs to a female relative of mine who was alive at the time of the First World War, for example my four Great-grandmothers were Mary-Jane, Lavinia, Ada and Alice. The other names were from my Great and Great-Great-Aunts. Enjoy. ❤ 🌺 ☘ 🌻 💖 🍂 🌿 🌼 💗 🌲 🌸 🍃 💕 🌹 🌱 ⚘💝 🌳 🏵 💮 💌 🌾 💐 🍁 💞 🍀

A spray of glass flew onto her as he broke the windows of the cabin. She heard the second ring come from the phone in her hand, the one clutched to her heart. He lunged and grabbed at her arm, locking it behind her back. The phone fell out of her grasp. "Really? This is the lock you choose," she laughed. Teeth gritted, she swung her head back to hear a sickening crunch. He was bleeding from his nose. She ran to the cabin and picked up the phone which was on its fifth ring. Somebody answered. "Hallo?" The general looked at her with fear in his eyes. "Don't." He mouthed. "I'm sorry," she said bringing the phone up to her mouth. _____ "The Royal Resistance. 1945. WWII. Evacuate to Lisbon. Over."
