Nero died at the young age of 20, before even graduating college. He crawled out of a pond in a strangers garden and was met by a beautiful blonde boy, Pierce, who informed him of his demise, and that since his Spirit made it through the portal, rather than Ascending, it meant that he was destined to become the Familiar of a Sorcerer in that realm. Pierce took him to his uncle Malachai, who is one of the most prestigious and powerful Sorcerers of his time.
Nero quickly displays his incredible talent for magic, drawing attention from The Embassy, the organization in charge of managing the magical world. For someone of Nero's skillet, he would be considered too dangerous to let pair up with a Sorcerer, especially one of Malachai's caliber. Because of this, they choose to hide the extent of Nero's abilities from The Embassy, so they can work together. Once passing the trials set by Malachai, Nero was given his name and a new identity as his Familiar. As such, the pair were expected to fight against evil and slay Demons who would seek to harm humans and cause mass destruction to the mundane realm. As they spent time together, the chemistry between Malachai and Nero becomes undeniable, leaving them to question how close their bond grows and whether or not to cross the line of expectations for a Familiar and Sorcerer pair.
Things quickly prove to be more than they seem within The Embassy, leaving Malachai, Nero, and Pierce to sift through what are truth and what are lies. As things grow increasingly dangerous the farther they investigate, the trio risks everything to uncover the truth behind The Embassy and the magical world that they live in.
A story of magic, deception, and proof that there is life (and love) after death.
