Jhae, an 18-year-old who recently moved to Detroit from Houston for a fresh start and peace of mind, finds herself in a dangerous situation. After meeting her neighbor Deja and attending a party where chaos ensues, Jhae encounters Amina Ruiz, a 22-year-old who warns her to leave before a violent incident occurs. However, Ruiz finds Jhae's phone and tracks her down, feeling the need to protect her due to impending danger. Ruiz ultimately kidnaps Jhae to keep her safe, despite Jhae's initial resistance. As Jhae wakes up in captivity, she confronts Ruiz, who calmly explains her actions by stating that people are searching for Jhae. Jhae, feeling conflicted and fearful, grapples with her abduction while trying to understand Ruiz's motives and ultimately longing to return home.
