People were told that soulmates guaranteed a year of happiness. A year to feel complete and whole. A year where you were with the one person who could understand you.

And then they died and you find yourself scrapped of whatever good thing you had and left hollow. It's why most people avoided soulmates the chance of death, or worse, the chance of being the one left behind, acted as a deterrent. Some people though seek out their soulmate anyways. They risk their life and home to find them. They hurt those closest to them for a chance to feel that wholeness that was promised, that happiness, that perfection. Even if it only lasts a year. Some people meet their soulmates.

Only to realize that sometimes, soulmates are just as hollow as you are.

In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper. One day though, they feel their tattoos start to tingle. ____________________________________ *Will they be happy with who their soulmate turns out to be? *Will they recognize each other? *Will they be happy? *Will they break apart? -Read to find out. :) ____________________________________ This book is rated mature because there is a lot of talk of depression and self harm. Soul Sparked

20 parts Complete Mature

Everyone is born with a mate. The only clue that each person gets is a soul mark that makes its first appearance on their tenth birthday. The mark interacts with each person because they are a piece of the person, they will one day bond with. Derek has always longed for his mate after seeing his mama and papa so happy together and hearing the story of how they met. When he gets his soul mark it's the happiest day of his life. Then comes a day when the mark no longer brings him happiness and hope as it once did. Instead, he's reminded of the so-called loves that didn't work and he no longer wants to be reminded. So, when he turns eighteen, he takes a friend up on the offer to rid him of the mark which is legal once a person reaches that age. Derek had no way of knowing what effects his mate would endure because it was supposed to be painless.
