Beatrice Fischer is a school teacher dedicated to her small town's history of Speeler Hollow. When she discovers one of the townsfolk taking an axe to a very important oak tree she uncovers an abysmal future for her town.
    
    The Old Oak is a short story (under 3,000 words) about conservation, changes, and the sad possibility of losing rich, valuable history. Can "humanity" survive in the perpetual growth of humankind? What do we walk past every day has its story buried, lost, and forgotten?
