Ascent from Darkness: A Severus Snape Story

Severus Snape is a talented and brilliant young wizard: angry, bitter, ambitious, and desperate to put his painful past behind him. Eager to prove himself to the Dark Lord who promises power, protection and riches beyond his wildest dreams, he joins the newly-formed Death Eaters in establishing a new wizarding world order. His skill for potions making and the Dark Arts garner the Dark Lord's attention, and Severus begins to gain his favor and quickly rise among the ranks.

He also attracts the eye of the cold and beautiful Charlotte Wynters who proves a lovely and willing distraction from the betrayal of his first love, Lily Evans.

As Snape is pulled deeper and deeper into the Dark Lord's web, he finds himself committing more and more heinous acts in his attempt to achieve notoriety and escape from the poverty of his youth. When Snape overhears a prophecy about the Dark Lord himself, he runs to his master, knowing that this valuable information will secure his place in Voldemort's inner sanctum. When the consequences of this decision mean the death of his beloved Lily, he turns to the only man who could ever stand against Lord Voldemort: Albus Dumbledore.
