I am 16 years old and finally will have a life out the home I have know for so long. I will be going to a school. The leaders of our city will be picking which school I fit in. Except these school aren't what they seem to the naked eye. They involve monsters no one ever thought real. Vampires, Werewolves, Witches and Shape-shifters. How can I survive learning about these things daily for my whole life?! But, the thing is I won't be learning about them to just...learn. Every year, my town chooses a sacrifice for the demon that "watches over" our home. In exchange for a person from the village between the ages of 17 to 25, the demon protects our village. And because of that pact, our village is protected for the next year, under the demon's watchful eyes. No one knows what happens to those who the demon chooses, but there's a lot of theories about it. One is that the demon eats or absorbs those who are chosen - another, that it kills them. But this year, I'm the one who's chosen. I get to meet the demon I've feared since I was a child, and now that I'm 24, and am considered an adult, I could have left the village behind. But I didn't. Something inside me told me to stay. Now, I'm going to die. I just know it. I can't leave now, or run away, because the town would be unprotected for a whole year, and that's where my family lives. It is a story set in 1687 and 1692 about three sisters who took it upon themselves to get involved with witchcraft: the oldest sister, Elizabeth Stregacattivo, is known throughout the town as the most dangerous witch. You'll read this story about magic, romance, sisterhood, and murder. (There are a lot of words that I wrote that were used in this century so if a word seems to be written weirdly it's because of how they used to speak then) This is an original story I wrote in 2022. It took me 4 months and a lot of encouragement to finish this. I've had a lot of friends read this and a few teachers have all told me it's a good story. My ELA teacher last year was obsessed with this.
