With the piece of fine art entitled "The Chasseur in the Forest" by the Romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich, I have created a short story based not only off of the scene in this painting, but also the artist's life and the philosophies of the art period in which he resides. This was an assignment for a class last year, and I thought it would be a good start in practicing my short story writing a little more on here.
A young French dragoon wanders aimlessly through a German evergreen forest, lost and terrified as he faces inevitable death, until he happens upon a peculiar meeting with a talking crow.
*Note: I am not religious. Any words about God in this story I have directly appropriated from Caspar's personal views and the philosophies of Romanticism.
