An 18 year old girl ( you ) and your best friend Annebelle ( an exceed ) are traveling around the magic world of Fiore. In a desperate search for your long lost mother ( that disappeared 7 years ago). Although on your journey you get attacked and your partner gets severely injured, you then stop your search in a city called Magnolia. There you hear about a magic guild called Fairy Tail, desperate you go their in search of help and maybe clues to find your mother. Even though you end up finding something else.
