Virgil Sharpe, a mute homeless street rat, who's been on his own since he was a boy ends up beaten and dying in the woods he called home... when suddenly a voice pulls his attention away from the black pulling at his mind.
"I can save you..." It spoke... Its voice like a song in the wind... magic in the air. He could feel the heat all around him as his vision blurred and darkened. "I can save you..." It repeated as this blurry figure bent down to look him over. "...but your life will belong to me... After all..." The figure slowly cleared enough allowing Virgil to get a good look at the ethereal being before him, literally glowing in the night air. They can affect them as well. Virgil hates cities, the bigger the city the more death there is, the more work he has to do. His job is to guide souls to the after life, or if they turn malevolent, cut them down. The moment he was assigned to a city, he already had a death to take care of. Except, it turned out to be a false alarm since the man survived. Virgil wouldn't have cared too much since it happens often, but now that man can see him and other spirits.
