Starling Prindle is trapped on the fourth floor of a parking garage in downtown Baltimore. He is inundated with thoughts of six cats lying dead with orange ribbons tied around their necks. Hours earlier, his wife strangled the cats to show her irritation with him. Unsure of what do to next, Starling begins a conversation with his 12-year-old brother who has been dead for thirty years. There are times when hiding in the past is the only place that's safe.

Five Star Reviews for Atlantis Academy: "Omg this book was amazing I couldn't put it down or stop reading. I carried it with me open on my phone while I did everything just to keep reading. I need more of all of this. Epic story, epic content, epic visuals, just epic. LOVE THIS!" "Once I got into this story, I did not stop reading it. This is a beautiful story about a very awkward girl who is riven with so much pain and angst and yet... this makes her who she is and shapes her into the person she will become. The world she finds herself awakened to is magical and yet filled with the all-too-familiar cliques and tribes of the very human people who inhabit it. One word to describe the story: beautiful!" "The story pulls you headlong to the end and leaves you wanting to shout "No! Not yet!" ...If there were 6 stars, I would have given it that." *** Humanity is one secret society away from extinction. The children of Atlantis use magic to keep us safe. If they make it through the Academy. Hi, I'm Lyric. And I'm kind of a mess. ADHD, that's me. I'm a high school drop-out, late everywhere I go, and one screw-up away from being homeless. I'm a loner, and I like it that way. Who needs friends when you have a Redwood forest nearby? Trees never bully me like the kids did at school. Or get drunk and throw things at my head. After my mom died, I figured life couldn't get much worse. I thought it might even get better. Ha. The universe has a great sense of humor. I should've listened to the rumors about evil spirits. About the angry, ancient magical creatures haunting our small Oregon Coast town. But did I? No. That was my first mistake. And it might be my last. 'Cause now I'm in a battle for my life. A whole new world has opened up... a magical world I don't understand. And the blood in my veins says I belong here. But I have to prove myself to save myself. And when have I ever done that?

How would God respond to making a mistake? Would planets collide or mountains slide into the sea? Or would the ledger of all life simply remain out kilter until a series of small events forced that ledger back into balance again? It's probably the latter. After all, you don't want to call attention to your mistakes if you're an all-powerful being. Across 12 interconnected stories, Just Follow the Cat unravels the events that shape the life of Starling Prindle and the original mistake that started him on his search for the center of the universe. The stories are simultaneously whimsical and nihilistic. They are also poetic in an unconventional way. There are cats and shadows of cats in every story. The 12 stories are told to a woman who can't see, can't hear, and can't react. From beginning to end, her thoughts about what she hears remain a mystery. Or maybe it's more than that. Maybe it's more shrouded. More unknowable. Maybe her thoughts are a riddle surrounded by a mystery that's inside an enigma with the whole mess wrapped in bacon. Maybe. Just maybe she is like a cat who has entered her 10th life and is now content to simply listen. When I write, I try to use simple language and speak directly to the reader. My goal is to have the reader feel as if the story is being told only to them. And my hope is that reading these stories will create a casual and comfortable bond between the reader and the narrator - kind of like sitting across a table from each other, sipping morning coffee, and listening.

The Dog Boy, a 39-year-old man child, is being forced from his home. He has nowhere to go. Charon's Crossing, a failed racehorse, will be put down unless she wins her next race, but she has lost each one of her previous 64 races. The worst is certain to happen until an industrious mouse, a million tiny microbes, an unusual afternoon fog bank, and a jockey's dreams of immortality come together to change their fates. It is finally time for everyone to be happy.
