Ardell is a well-paid representative of an advertising firm, constantly traveling all over Europe to establish connections and close sales, much to the chagrin of his wife. Unhappy and unfulfilled, his life is thrown into an uproar when he receives divorce papers at his hotel room in Berlin. In a panic and unable to find a flight, he boards a cross-continental train bound for London. Also boarding the train, and attempting to shake an apparent stalker, Penelope chooses Ardell out of all of the passengers on the train to help her, and their two lives become inextricably bound together for the 15 hour train ride. Over conversations and revelations, Ardell and Penelope find themselves slowly falling in love. But Penelope has secrets of her own, and her supposed stalker isn't just a man unable to take no for an answer. Forced to work together to shake the man off her trail, her real identity begins to come to light, and Ardell is left with the choice of holding onto the life he has established for himself, or sacrificing everything for the sake of the only happiness he's ever truly known.
