On March 3,1969 the United States Navy established an elite school for the top one percent of its pilots. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of aerial combat and to ensure that the handful of men and women who graduated were the best fighter pilots in the world.
They succeeded.
Today, the Navy calls it Fighter Weapons School. The flyers call it:

Emerson Blackwood and Skye Kazansky had dreamed of becoming pilots for as long as they could remember. Through an extensive amount of training at the Naval Academy and flight school, the two best friends had easily become some of the best Naval Aviators in the country, and are given the chance of a lifetime to attend the five week Top Gun training program. Graduating at the top of their class, and being one of the youngest to have graduated, the girls only continue to excel in their Naval careers.
