Inside was their mum, in a once white bed, now pooled in red. A knife was stabbed deep in her throat. 'Mum!' Neela cried running to the bed sobbing. 'What happened?' I asked. 'Aleen! You must pay for Daedalus's crimes. Come out now!' a whispery low voice roared. I shivered as a shadow loomed over the room and hid under the bed. Turning to Neela, who was still mourning, I silently gasped in surprised as she suddenly saw her so transparent that she seemed like a ghost. It was like someone was sucking out her soul. A dark aura surrounded my feet, freezing me on the spot. I squeezed my eyes shut hoping this would just be a dream. When she finally opened my eyes, I realised that I was alone in the house with my dead mother. Neela had disappeared! 'Daedalus, your debt is paid. I have finally killed your every last descendant.' He laughed wickedly.

'In a single terrifying moment the heavens roared with a deafening crack of thunder, and the wind howled in a bone-chilling frenzy, as if someone was screaming in agony and unbearable anguish. In response, the earth recoiled in shock; the ground shook violently, jolting her off her feet. As the tremors intensified, a great chasm ripped open, devouring everything in its path and swallowing her in an instant. In a heartbeat, she plummeted into the shadowy abyss, consumed completely by the darkness. Then, the great void closed again, cutting off the sound of her terrified voice, leaving no trace of her presence there...' A retelling of the timeless love story of Hades and Persephone. Though some may argue it wasn't a love story at all... I disagree... Cover by AI Updated twice a week.
