My Achilles

~ I slowly release my hands from their grip around the leather reins. I smile and shoot my arms up to the sky, feeling the powerful wind between my fingers. I cheer a triumphant cheer, one of wild content.

"We're free, Achilles!" I remind the galloping black horse between my legs. "We are finally free." ~

15 year old Eden Hadley has had a rough life. Dead father at 7 who shared her love of horses. Mother with depression and a drinking problem. An older brother who struggles to look after her and their useless mother.

Yeah, it's tough. Even when Eden tries to help out and get a job at the local horse stud, things don't seem to get any better.

That is, until, Achilles shows up. Untamable, unbreakable, and beautifully wild. He could be just the horse that Eden's mundane life needed.

But there's always a catch to happiness.
