"Why can't you understand that it's easier for me to be alone?" Aeri says, the sand under her feet no longer bringing her comfort. "And why can't you understand that I need you?" Jake asks, pulling her towards him. Aeri tries to escape his grasp but Jake doesn't budge, only holding her tighter. "You don't need me." She says, looking away from the boy. He hooks a finger under her jaw, turning her head so that she has to face him. "You've always been the only one I need. My one and only."
