It was over. The revolution, his armies, everything was gone in mere hours. He'd been tortured, beaten, and insulted for information. But he'd remained vigilant. Now he had his chance, and he wasn't going to waste it. He had to run. He'd done his fair share of eavesdropping. He just hoped his information was correct.
Where would he go once he was free? Hell if he knew. He just knew he couldn't sit here, rotting in this cell for the rest of his miserable existence when the cage was wide open. So he took his chances. And he ran.
