Malik is Omni. They share the world with humans. Omni are capable of manifesting their desires. For Malik, his desire is being left alone. His power made him the embodiment of space and darkness. Omni were killed out of fear. Humans couldn't handle them. Malik responded, pushing the gov't to let peacekeepers take over. Pegasus is an airborne command center for them. It serves as an HQ for the organization. They underestimated the power of Omni, Malik brought down their base in Detroit. Since then, he's been keeping a low profile with the aid of Nigel, his long-time friend, and the only one he trusts with his secret.

OMNI mainly follows the point of view of Malik. He prefers a life of privacy. Nigel supports him. Life becomes difficult and unpredictable for Malik, as new allies and adversaries come into his life. He understands that being human takes more work than being Omni. As Malik's story is told, Nigel has his own unique story. His role transitioned from being a peacekeeper, mercenary, and rebel leader. [ReBoot] and [ReBirth] are extensions to Nigel's story. [Part V] resumes life for Nigel while introducing Mikaela. OMNI follows her point of view as it reaches its end.

Mikaela is a rare breed of Omni. Her powers were delayed as a child. She went through a traumatic experience that triggered them. Mikaela was a peacekeeper. She watched over Omni, who were imprisoned. Her life spiraled when she learned the truth. Consumed with them, she embraced being Omni and disregarded her past life. Nigel intervened with her plans. He led a small resistance to prevent human extinction.
