Humanity was never alone. Buried in our DNA lies the adaptive gene-a dormant gift left behind by an ancient extraterrestrial force, now awakened by catastrophe. The world teeters on the edge. Economies have collapsed under the weight of automation, resource wars, and inequality. Climate disasters are the new norm. Scientific innovation, once the beacon of progress, is weaponized by governments and corporations alike. And amidst it all, people change. Some awaken. With superpowered beings emerging daily, governments act quickly- licensing heroes, military, science, and criminalizing anyone who steps outside their control. Heroes are no longer symbols of hope, but agents of enforcement. In this fractured world, injustice, thrives. The minorities that were once protected by the government long ago, now suffer under systemic, neglect and targeted suppression on a scale like never before. Power doesn't erase prejudice - it amplifies it. Those without connections are labeled threats, no matter how noble their hearts. But something in the air is shifting. Anomaly, a woman whose powers, defy logic itself, becomes a beacon for the undocumented and the oppressed. Alongside Spectre, ruler of the unseen; Justice, a national hero with strong ties to corruption; and others torn between duty and rebellion - they must navigate a world where power is currency, and identity, can mean the difference between life and death. As rebellion brews and extinction looms from distant, unknown forces, one question remains: Were we chosen to survive... or to be judged? In a world built on control, the real anomaly seems to be freedom.

While I've got you, and while we're alone ... can I share something with you? You know, man-to-reader? OK, fab. I am slowly becoming a girl. Yeah. Really. See, that girl you heard about just before my boring ass started chundering away about showers and carpets like a dodgy salesman, she's in my head. She has been for a really long time. Maybe soon, I'll go deeper into that. I hope that's put your minds at ease in an odd way - now you'll know why I dream from the perspective of a girl less than half my age. So, show of hands, how many of you have questions? One, two, thr ... yeah, I had a feeling it would be like this. I can't answer them right now, but I promise you will know me soon enough. Besides ... I'm counting on you for something. You, dear invisible reader, are going to play the role of my brain. I'm going to scribble down every thought, event and experience I have. You're going to be the way I no longer have to live life trapped in my own head 24/7. And eventually ... soon, you will be the reason I stop pretending. This is a promise I am making to myself, and you are all going to be witness. 2025 is the year I stop playing pretend.
