Rules to Feeling Lonely
Alone. A simple word that has always held many meanings to Ella, and starting her senior year at a new high school, solitude had seemed the easiest way to go. A week passed, bland and unnoticed, before her plans quickly get thrown overboard. Losing one of her most priced possessions, she finds herself making a rather simple deal with someone from school. His name, for her book. There's only one little problem; she has no idea who this person is. Laughs and tears, friends and heartbreak, and the past that comes knocking on the door. Ella faces it all as she takes on the search to find her secret admirer. ___________________ "I can't believe him after the texts, the letter, the flowers. All these months and he just tells me 'we'll talk later'", I told him, feeling absolutely frustrated. I am so damn stupid, thinking this was gonna be something special or whatever. Worrying about people is kind of programmed into my system. It's a curse if you ask me," I surprised myself a lot more than I thought was possible with my answer. And what did he do? Laugh! He fucking laughed! Not full on rolling- on- the- floor laughter but a laugh nonetheless. "This isn't funny, Tyler." "It kind of is. Almost a month ago, I would've sworn that you hated me. Be careful, Specs," he squinted down at me, "or you might actually sound as if you like me." I rolled my eyes. "Don't flatter yourself. I was concerned. Don't confuse that with affection. It's two very, very different things." *** When you think that all is not lost in the world. That not all men are pricks and that not all sushi is bad. Great! But who are you to judge? Fair question. This is not to humble-brag, but I've been critiquing and have worked with story development for quite some time, and I've picked up a lot along the way. ☙ - As an Ambassador, I work on content projects. ☙ - If you look at my profile, you'll see everything I've published so far has managed to standout in one way or another, whether by leading me to become a Wattpad Star; or by winning a Watty (twice!); or by being picked as a Top 10 in major Wattpad contests (twice!); or being featured. All I'm saying is I'm no slouch. I'm not brilliant either. But I've got some experience around what can catch an agent, editor, or judge's eye, and I'd like to share that with the community. ☙ - In another lifetime, I used to work for HBO in Development and at ICM (the talent agency) in their writers' department which means I understand how professionals quickly gauge whether or not they'll take a closer look at a work and/or make an offer.
