Johnny's like the gangs pet. Everyone treats him like their little brother, and he's scared of just about everything after getting jumped, at least that's all they think it is. His family is not great. He's abused physically and verbally by his parents, but he doesn't tell the gang. He doesn't want to worry them, or ruin his parents' reputation. So he keeps it a secret, until Ponyboy decides to surprise Johnny for his birthday, and he sees what goes down at his house.
