Based on the Irish folk tale Stingy Jack, I took some licence to explore Jacks background and his deal with the Devil. For those who know, in the original tale Jack tricks the devil up a tree on his next encounter with him, before sealing his fate utterly. 
For the sake of a clearer and better flowing narrative I did not incorporate this into my story. I hope this does not detract from your enjoyment of the story.

I screamed at the top of my lungs when he slashed the boy's neck with his claw. The boy next to the dead body stood frozen while he visibly squeezed the boy's head into nothing. Jack pushed me at the monster and ran out the door, but he didn't make it far. He caught up with him and bit off his head, blood trickling down his chin. Then the monster turned towards me and threw Jack through the window, loosing interest in the boy in a second. He walked towards my shaking body, leaning his 8 foot body down to mine. The smile that formed on his disgusting face made my stomach do a 360° flip. And the fire that was enveloping him was making my eyes burn. The first time you just shrug it off, but the more you began to see him the more you get scared. You try to deny it by telling yourself that you need more sleep or that it was just a trick from you brain, but it isn't. No matter what you tell yourself it won't go away. He will still be there, he will still follow and you will still scream if you see him in your house one day. Now you can go to someone and tell them about the person who is following you. They will probably arrest them and you will be save from him for a while, but here's the thing. The only different between you and me is that the person is following you is probably human, but mine is a ghost and you can't escape something that can go anywhere he wants to go with getting seen by other people.

BACKSTORY: The idea for this story came to my sisters (Mame and Adja) and they convinced me to write it so they could read it before going to sleep. I spent a couple of months thinking about a plot, characters (some based on real people and some fictional) and a possible sequel.
