Using different names, this is a non-fiction story about myself, a girl from a small town in Massachusetts, having met a boy from Guangdong, China at a teriyaki and sushi bar at a mall food court. This is the (short) story of how we met, eventually became friends and broke our language barrier (kind of).

Forward to 2024, I have visited Leo a few years after this encounter. Shortly after visiting him, Leo posted on wechat that he had a significant other. Life drifting us apart, I have not talked to him in for a few years now, and it seems he has gotten married and had a baby. I am happy for him. He deserves to be happy. But for those who may get the impression... yes, I had a huge crush on him and was too shy to pursue, especially with the language barrier. And I have no idea if it the crush was reciprocated. Perhaps I will write a second chapter about my visiting him.
