cool story with a half-assed cover

Patient 284-I can't remember what her life was like before the last two years at the hospital. Did she volunteer? Was she born here? Has she lived here her whole life? She has no idea.

What she does know is that this hospital isn't any normal hospital. It's more of a lab, if anything. With experiments. You know, your classic "subjects trapped in a lab experiment" thing. 284 at least knows that much. What a cliche situation she's trapped in. She doesn't exactly care about that, though.

284 cares about escaping.

She wants to find her true identity. Who she really was before the past two years. And why, for the life of her, she can't remember a single thing outside of the hospital.

And there's one more thing. A rumor is floating around the hospital. Or, one could call it a myth. The infamous "Doctor Z". He was rumored to be a brutal and terrifying man. Essentially, he was the boss of the hospital. Yet not a single patient had ever met him. And the staff all refuse to answer questions.

Life is bleak and lived in wariness. Who can you trust, if not even your own mind?

Things change once the new patient arrives.

A keycard swipe could be heard. Then, the doors opened, with a nurse briskly stepping in. Her heels clicked against the white tile. Turning towards the opened doors, she beckoned for someone to follow. A moment later, a small, blonde figure shuffled in. The nurse's attention turned back to the cafeteria, her gaze sweeping the room of curious eyes.

"Everyone, this is your new patient. 519-K."
