Twenty-three-year-old Annette Grante attempts to navigate her way through life. She works in a daycare center where she makes decent money, but it pushes her away from her real dreams. Right now, Micah-her soon-to-be husband-seems to be the only positive thing in her life. Annette believes Micah is an example of what a man should be, seeing as he constantly keeps her on her toes.

August Sinclair, a twenty-seven year old professional chef who owns multiple restaurants, seems to have his life all planned out. He's doing what he loves and has pretty much nothing to worry about besides his businesses. For individuals who are unable to cook, he offers a website with cooking classes. He concentrates on his restaurants and food, leaving his staff members to run his website. Yet since his businesses are doing well, he chooses to have a one-on-one lesson with a random client, twice a week.
